This article is an attempt to summarize previous historical knowledge and new research on the topic of the uprising, resistance, formation, and organization of free territory in Serbia during the summer and autumn of 1941. Based on the analysis of works published so far, as well as available archives, we will endeavour to point out the basic characteristics of the uprising in Serbia in the period when it reached its zenith and before the civil war in the country.
