Tomasz Jacek Lis, YUGOSLAVIA AND ITS INHABITANTS IN POLISH DIARIES AND LETTERS IN THE INTERWAR PERIOD
In the interwar period, Poland and Yugoslavia conducted academic exchanges, in particular with students of philology, historians and other humanists. The article analyzes the opinions of young Poles who then came to Yugoslavia. The memories and correspondence of 4 people served as a source base; Antonina Obrebska-Jabłońska, Henryk Batowski, Stanisław Rospond and Marian Jakóbec. Thanks to these materials, we could see how they perceived Yugoslavia and its inhabitants. Poles devoted a lot of space to the description of modern cities such as Belgrade or Zagreb, but also places that were much poorer, such as Macedonia. Their accounts were sometimes full of stereotypes or even illegal, but they allow us to look at the interwar Yugoslavia through their eyes.
