Organized by the National Museum Leskovac, the Institute of Contemporary History Belgrade and the Branch of SANU in Nis, the XVIII Scientific Conference “Cultural and Historical Heritage of Southern Serbia” was held on October 15 and 16, 2020 in Leskovac. Participants and attendees were greeted by: Mira Ninošević, Director of the National Museum in Leskovac, Academician Ninoslav Stojadinović, President of the Branch of SANU in Niš, prof. Dr. Mira Radojevic, full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade and Dr. Bojan Dimitrijević, Deputy Director of the Institute of Contemporary History in Belgrade.
This two-day scientific gathering had two main topics: (1) The role and significance of local journals of history, archeology, art history and ethnology, (2) World War II and the liberation of Leskovac in 1944.
On the same occasion, the jubilee, 60th edition of the Leskovac review, a magazine that exceeds the local framework with its significance and quality, was promoted.
